Spartan Motors Breaks Ground on New Truck Plant in Charlotte, Michigan

Spartan Motors Inc., a leader in the manufacturing of specialty chassis and vehicle assembly, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony April 19th to recognize its $5.5-million investment in a new 85,000-square-foot truck assembly plant that will manufacture Isuzu’s new F-Series trucks that will go on sale in 2017.

The new plant will be part of Spartan’s Charlotte, Michigan manufacturing campus, dedicated solely to the production of Isuzu vehicles. It boats a flexible production line that can be easily reconfigured to accommodate the assembly of multiple product lines.

Spartan is expanding an alliance it started with Isuzu North America Corp. that began in 2011 with the production of Isuzu’s gasoline-powered N-Series cabover trucks.

Spartan and Isuzu officials that appeared at the site April 19 for a ground-breaking ceremony included Shaun Skinner, president of Izusu Commercial Truck of America; Shigeji Sigimoto, president of Isuzu North America Corp.; Daryl Adams, president and CEO of Spartan Motors; and Steve Guillaume, president of Spartan Specialty Vehicles.
