Isuzu Assembled it’s 50,000th N-Series Gasoline Truck

The gas-powered Isuzu N-Series truck is produced in Charlotte, Michigan
Isuzu Commercial Truck of America announced that the 50,000th gasoline-powered Isuzu N-Series truck has been produced in Charlotte, Michigan. The truck rolled off the assembly line on Wednesday, August 1, 2018.
The Isuzu N-Series truck was the first gasoline-powered low cab forward truck available in North America. Assembly of the truck began at Spartan Motors, Inc. in April 2011.
“We anticipated the demand for gasoline-engine low-cab-forward trucks over seven years ago, and the assembly of our 50,000th truck proves that our instincts were correct,” said Shaun Skinner, president of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America. “New competitors have entered the marketplace, but our N-Series gasoline truck is still the premier vehicle in its class. That’s a testament to the performance and reliability Isuzu is famous for and the tremendous build quality of the finished product, thanks to Spartan.”
Isuzu N-Series gas-powered trucks feature a Vortec 6.0-liter small-block V8 engine that produces 297 horsepower at 4,300 rpm and generates 372 lbs.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm (the most torque of any gas-powered LCF truck in North America). The powerplant is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with double overdrive and lock-up torque converter for enhanced fuel economy and performance. An optional version of the engine is capable of being converted to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG, or propane).

Isuzu Breaks Sales Records Yet Again

Sales of Isuzu Trucks and Isuzu Parts Reach All-Time High in 2017
ANAHEIM, Calif.—Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc, distributor of America’s bestselling low cab forward trucks, announced today that it shattered two sales records in 2017, making last year its new benchmark for retail sales of Isuzu-brand trucks and sales of Isuzu parts. This marks the third year in a row that Isuzu has established records in these key metrics.

Isuzu dealers retailed 22,633 Isuzu trucks to customers in 2017—a record for Isuzu-brand trucks in the United States.

In addition, Isuzu dealers purchased more parts with a sales increase of 3.9% versus 2016, setting another record.

“These records carry more meaning when you consider that we faced an increasing level of competition throughout 2017,” said Shaun C. Skinner, president, Isuzu Commercial Truck of America. “Our 2017 results are a testament to the hard work of our dealer body and our field force—and, of course, the loyalty of our customers.”

Skinner expressed confidence that the company’s momentum will continue into 2018: “The forecasts for our economy continue to be positive. Medium-duty trucks are in demand, and as the retail environment changes to rely less on bricks and mortar, that demand is expected to grow even more. And we have the strongest product lineup we have ever offered, with the addition of the all-new Class 6 FTR.

“Combine all these factors and 2018 looks to be another great year for Isuzu,” Skinner said.

Isuzu Adds Class 3 NPR Diesel Cabover

Isuzu Introduces 2016 13,000-LB. GVWR NPR Diesel

ANAHEIM, Calif.—Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc., distributor of America’s bestselling low cab forward trucks, today introduced its newest model—the 2016 NPR Diesel. The truck features a 13,000-lb. GVWR and a 33.5-inch frame to offer more capability than previously available in an entry-level Isuzu diesel truck—while still providing legendary Isuzu durability and fuel economy.

“With a 13,000-lb. GVWR, the new NPR Diesel approaches the capacity of a Class 4 truck, but at a Class 3 price,” said Shaun Skinner, executive vice president and general manager of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America. “This truck is the latest example of how Isuzu is committed to lowering the cost of truck ownership without sacrificing performance, practicality, long-term reliability or fuel efficiency.”

Among the notable features of the 2016 NPR Diesel:

Standard 30-gallon rear-mounted in-rail fuel tank
Frame width of 33.5 inches that will accept bodies up to 102 inches wide and 91 inches high
Four wheelbases—109, 132.5, 150, and 176 inches—that will accept body lengths up to 20 feet

The new NPR Diesel is powered by the newest and most modern powerplant in the Isuzu family, the 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TC turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine. The powerplant produces 150 horsepower and 282 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 to 2,800 rpm.

“With its peak torque available at low and mid-range engine speeds, the 4J engine gives drivers both good off-the-line acceleration and passing power,” Skinner said.

That power doesn’t come at the expense of durability. The engine has a B-10 diesel engine life rating of 310,000 miles. And in keeping with Isuzu’s commitment to environmental responsibility, the engine is capable of running on B20 biodiesel fuel.

The powerplant is mated to an Aisin A460 six-speed automatic transmission with double overdrive, lock-up torque converter […]
