Congratulations Isuzu 2018 Isuzu FTR named Work Truck Magazine Medium-Duty Truck of the Year

Work Truck Magazine has named Isuzu Commercial Truck of America’s Class 6 FTR cabover its 2018 Medium-Duty Truck of the Year. This is Isuzu’s third win since the award inception 11 years ago.

The Isuzu FTR was one of nine vehicles included on an online ballot chosen by professional fleet managers. They were asked to consider which medium-duty truck model best fit their fleet requirements for application effectiveness, durability, quality, servicing, maintenance, and lifecycle costs.

“Thank you to all the readers of Work Truck magazine for this honor for the third time in six years,” said Shaun Skinner, president of ICTA. “We are all very proud of the all-new Class 6 Isuzu FTR, and this year’s honor is particularly rewarding for us since the FTR is not your typical Class 6 truck.”

Isuzu Breaks Sales Records Yet Again

Sales of Isuzu Trucks and Isuzu Parts Reach All-Time High in 2017
ANAHEIM, Calif.—Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc, distributor of America’s bestselling low cab forward trucks, announced today that it shattered two sales records in 2017, making last year its new benchmark for retail sales of Isuzu-brand trucks and sales of Isuzu parts. This marks the third year in a row that Isuzu has established records in these key metrics.

Isuzu dealers retailed 22,633 Isuzu trucks to customers in 2017—a record for Isuzu-brand trucks in the United States.

In addition, Isuzu dealers purchased more parts with a sales increase of 3.9% versus 2016, setting another record.

“These records carry more meaning when you consider that we faced an increasing level of competition throughout 2017,” said Shaun C. Skinner, president, Isuzu Commercial Truck of America. “Our 2017 results are a testament to the hard work of our dealer body and our field force—and, of course, the loyalty of our customers.”

Skinner expressed confidence that the company’s momentum will continue into 2018: “The forecasts for our economy continue to be positive. Medium-duty trucks are in demand, and as the retail environment changes to rely less on bricks and mortar, that demand is expected to grow even more. And we have the strongest product lineup we have ever offered, with the addition of the all-new Class 6 FTR.

“Combine all these factors and 2018 looks to be another great year for Isuzu,” Skinner said.

Isuzu FTR Independent Testing Results Demonstrates All Around Excellence

Isuzu FTR Takes on Five Competitors in Acceleration, Braking, Maneuverability, Fuel Economy and More
ANAHEIM, Calif.—Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc., distributor of America’s best-selling low-cab-forward trucks, has announced the results of independent testing of its all-new FTR. The testing pitted the Isuzu against five of its top competitors in five areas important to owners and operators of Class 6 trucks.
“When we introduced the FTR last spring, some naysayers thought a four-cylinder Class 6 truck could never compete with the six-cylinder models you typically find in this segment,” said Shaun Skinner, president of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc., “But the results demonstrate that the FTR exceeds expectations against the top vehicles in its class—and beats them all for maneuverability and fuel economy.”
The tests were conducted by Pro Formance Group, Inc. (PFG), in Chandler, Arizona, and the results were certified by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).
The six vehicles evaluated in the test:

Isuzu FTR
Freightliner M2 106
Navistar DuraStar 4300
Hino 268A
Ford F-650
Kenworth K270

The testing consisted of the following:

Acceleration (0–20, 0–30, 0–40, 0–50, 0–60 and 30–50 miles per hour)
Braking (55–0 and 30–0 mph)
Measured turning radius
Time and speed on two separate hill climbs
Fuel economy (measured on both a 198.7-mile mountain route and a 120.7-mile city route with 24 “delivery stops”)

The testing methods were designed by PFG to emphasize consistency and repeatability of results. In addition to SCCA—which sanctioned, observed and validated all testing procedures—PFG engaged Trivinci Systems of Ashburn, Virginia, to provide all instrumentation and an engineer to capture, record and analyze all data during testing.
Fuel Economy: has been one of Isuzu’s strengths since its entry in the market over 30 years ago—and the FTR reinforced Isuzu’s reputation […]
