Hino Enters Class 8 Market with Debut of the All-New XL Series

Hino Enters Class 8 Market with XL Series Truck
Hino Trucks debuted its new line of trucks at the 2018 Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN. yesterday.  Named the Hino XL Series, the all-new lineup rounds out Hino Trucks Class 7 product offering and launches them into the Class 8 market for the first time in the U.S. The Hino XL7 and XL8 models are powered by Hino’s legendary A09 turbo diesel 8.9-liter inline 6-cylinder engine boasting a B10 life of 1,000,000 miles.
The Hino XL Series adds capability and new advantages to Hino Trucks product portfolio while holding true to the brand’s core advantages of industry-leading standard features, durability, reliability, and ownership experience.
The Hino XL Series will be offered in a host of straight truck and tractor configurations ranging from a GVWR of 33,000 to 60,000 lbs. and GCWR up to 66,000 lbs. with a max performance of 360 horsepower and 1,150 lb.-ft. torque. Available wheelbase selections of up to 304 inches, and tandem axle and fifth wheel configurations make this a versatile truck for many vocational applications.
Production of the XL7 and XL8 will start in early 2019 and the lineup will be assembled in Mineral Wells, W.Va., at a fully renovated 1 million square-foot production facility that Hino acquired in 2017.

Hino To Produce New Line of Class 7 and 8 Trucks

Hino To Make Substantial Investment To Expand U.S. Operations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Novi, MI – Hino announced today a substantial investment plan to strengthen its U.S. operations with the introduction of a new truck line and new facilities.

Today at a press conference, Hino announced its plan to purchase the former Cold Water Creek distribution center and convert it into its new truck assembly plant in Mineral Wells, West Virginia, close to its current plant.  The new plant, planned to be operational in early 2019, will also house cab assembly, an operation currently conducted in Japan.  “The new plant, which is four times the size of our current plant, will allow us to combine several assembly operations under one roof which will provide significant efficiency gains” noted Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A. president, Takashi Ono.  Also, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice stated, ““West Virginia has enjoyed a very good relationship with Hino. This new plant demonstrates that Hino has confidence in our state, and West Virginia is a great place to do business.  On behalf of everyone in the Mountain State, I thank Hino for their continued investment and the creation of new jobs.”

The total investment to the new plant will be approximately $100 million, creating about 250 new jobs in early 2020 over two shift operation.

In addition to producing Hino’s current award winning line up of conventional trucks, the new truck assembly plant in West Virginia will produce a new line of Class 7 and 8 trucks powered by Hino’s proven A09, 9-liter engine with a horsepower range from 300-360 HP, which Hino plans to introduce in 2019.  Hino is planning a public reveal of the new truck at the 2018 NTEA Work Truck Show.  “These are truly […]
